Mott GSV (Gas Solids Venturi) filters are utilized to recover and transfer catalyst fines to a storage hopper and to ensure particulate emissions are minimized, not only protect downstream equipment but also to limit the amount of emissions released into the environment.

Carbon black, produced from highly purified, filtered feedstock, is a key ingredient in tire production and other rubber products, and is also used as a pigment in inks and paints. Manufacturers rely on Mott filters to filter carbon black feedstock to remove contaminants and ensure the consistent production of highly pure carbon black product.

Mott GSV (Gas Solids Venturi) filters effectively and reliably capture catalyst fines during catalyst transfer operations in refineries, whether loading fresh catalyst from a truck or unloading spent catalyst from the regenerator.  The back-pulse operation occurs automatically and efficiently, maximizing catalyst recovery while minimizing utility consumption. Mott LSI filters excel at removing alumina-silica catalyst and other solid contaminants from FCC/RFCC main column bottom slurry feeds.  With online, clean-in-place backwashing and automated process control, Mott slurry oil filters achieve less than 100 ppm total suspended solids filtrate quality, ensuring the filtered oil can be used for blending or sold as valuable product into other applications.

Hydrotreating is performed in an oil refinery to produce high quality fuels and feedstocks by reducing sulfur or nitrogen content, saturating olefins for stability improvement, or reducing aromatic content. Refineries use Mott filters to filter hydrotreater feed to prevent plugging and fouling of the catalyst fixed bed and to filter hydrotreater product to capture catalyst fines that may escape from the fixed bed.

Needle coke is used to produce graphite electrodes that are consumed in steel and aluminum production furnaces.  A Mott filter can be utilized to filter the needle coke production feedstock to remove contaminants and help ensure the consistent production of a high-quality needle coke product.
