Fuel Cells Technology

Mott works with multiple fuel cell manufacturers to achieve optimal mass transfer, ohmic resistance, and activation polarization from their gas diffusion layers.  We customize our porous metal sheet to various thicknesses and porosity to deliver the best results in terms of permeability and conductivity.  Titanium is available for typical fuel cell applications.  430 stainless steel and nickel 200 are available for solid oxide fuel cells.  Specialty alloys, such as niobium and zirconium, can be used for aerospace applications.

Mott offers gas process filters for filtration of high-temperature gasification processes. Companies that generate energy from hot gas rely on filter elements designed with Mott porous metal to improve the longevity of their filters and reduce maintenance costs – simply because porous metal can withstand temperatures up to 1700° Fahrenheit.  Mott GSV filters also  simplify operations because they enable on-line cleaning, meaning that while the filter operates, elements are cleaned in sections through a gas-assisted pulse, so there’s no need to take the filter offline for maintenance.
